Some of these towns are protected by Him (either having figured out how to repell Him or by having made a deal with Him like Thage), while others just don't interest Him. These are havens any seeking temperary solace should go to.

Wiping the Slate Clean

So The Black King wiped Ron's memories again. Does this mean I can start clean with the kid and make a new friend without the baggage of what I helped to do him? I helped do this... Now that I've seen once free of The Black King's hold over me, I do start to sympathize his plight. I helped do this to him. I stood idally by as The Black King Marked him, then I hunted him relentlessly, and eventually helped turn him over and held him down as he was Indoctrinated. Then he was entirely dependent on Pete and others to survive. Now this... His mind somehwat restored, but without any memory of the last few important months. I helped do this to him.

Is this... remorse? Do I deserve The Lone Hunter?

You Have My Smypathy Friends

Clarice and Pete, I wish I could be there to help you, but until I lose the vicious psychopath tailing me, it's better that I'm not around. If I were there, things would be much worse. Lone Hunter has as little perception of mercy as The Black King.

A New Player Enters

Meet Durkin, ladies and gentlemen. He's the head Agent in Chicago and has made his appearance on the scene over at Pete's "Search and Reveal". He and I were of equal rank before I defected. As I was just in charge of operations in Boston, he's runs things in Chicago. A man named Roberts is the Al(x)ne/Allen equivalent in Illinois.

Zero Luck

So, Zero's back and this time, completely and utterly insane. He's also out to kill runners and other Infected. Wonderful. Hey, Zero, how's it feel to know that That Black King is still pulling your chain and that you're still doing His dirty work for Him? Yes, you bloody plan failed, but it wasn't because of the runners not wishing Him away hard enough. It failed because The Black King has always been here. We all want Him gone just as much as you do. Don't pin your own plan's shortcomings on us, simpleton. If writing fanfictions about The Black King being wounded was enough to make Him go away, then He'd be long gone by now.
If you start hunting down and murdering runners and fighters, you friends, it will be the same as when you were tricked into killing Amelia: still playing right into His wishes.

I shrug this off. I can't be bothered with you right now, nor can I be bothered to sympathize with someone who pushes the blame on others. I'm off to the mountains. If you want to kill me, I'm afraid you're going to have to step in line, because I already have one psycho out to get me.

Ado, Zero. May you regain some sense now that you've returned. I'm not the one you're letting down by acting like this as I never looked up to you.

Heading West

I've been on the road for a few hours today already. I'm posting as I stop for some lunch. Going out West in hopes of losing my new follower out in the mountains out there. Sorry to hear about your current situation, Bruce. I guess you're just going to have to find my trail again. Seeya later, Wally Gator.

Crap crap crap!

The Black King has taken Pete! We were performing Experiment #9, and we were escaping from Him when He suddenly came and grabbed Pete. I'm going to look for Pete now. I'll let you know if I find him.

Watching

Well, we've set up and as soon as I press 'send', we're getting into position.

At last...

I finally arrived. Dead tired. See you all later.

The Traitor closes in on his destination.

Alright, one direct encounter with The Black King and an attack by an Agent his proxies later, I'm on the road again. I'm not badly injured, but I'll be feeling the sting for a few days, for sure.

The white van persists, and did not help me at all.. Thank for nothing, Fisk. I guess that means they're just here to observe and not apprehend, else they'd have intervened to get their quarry to safety.

I'm within a day and a half 's journey to Chicago.

I appear to have a white van following me.

Fisk doesn't waste any time, does he?

About Bruce Smith, The Lone Hunter:

He is the younger brother of Allen Smith, aka, "Al(x)ne".
About the two brothers:

Allen:
Born in raised in Boston, Mass, the Smith brothers were middle class kids who lived typical lives. Then Allen discovered he had a strong business sense and came to own his very own store by the time he was 25. Over the course of the remainder of his twenties and well into his thirties, he became a successful land owner and rented out his properties to various parties to either reside or do business from. He was also a ruthless business back then, and did many less than morals things to get what he wanted. I think a few people ended up wearing cement shoes, in fact.
When he was 37, in 1990, The Black King showed Himself to him and the two made a deal in exchange for Allen's life. He would buy properties that The Slender Man could who was places to hide his followers or victims.
Over time, Allen became even more corrupt as wanting to save his own skin overcame any guilt he may have once had, and eventually became a powerful Agent in The Black King's ranks.
In fact, Allen was already the head of all slendering operations in Mass, when I moved to Boston to take up my post there, in 2000.

Bruce:
Allen's younger, less intelligent but more physically adept, brother. Bruce played sports in high school and college, eventually joined the military and was trained as a sniper.
Whatever he did during his time with the armed forces either deranged him or awakened his bloodlust. All I know is that when he left, he still craved more blood and killing. He became a successful serial killer before he was approached by both The Black King and his older brother. Now holding the position of being Allen's personal assassin, he could kill as much as he desired and then some...and did.
He's as insane, sadistic, and ruthless as MorningStar, as dangerous and well-trained as any member of Nightcrawler's crew, has the power to enter and exit any sub-dimension he wishes (and take anyone he has with him there as well), and he has a bone to pick with:
Me
Slice
Core
Pete
Ron
with me being the first target before he moves onto anyone else.

As long as I live, he will not come after any of you. I know how he operates. He'll torment me relentlessly until I can run from him no more, and then he will torture me to death in ways far worse than what Allen did to Clyde. Then he'll do the same to whoever comes next.
Gentlemen, I'm not going to lie. The situation for all five of us is bleak unless one of us kills him. On one hand, he is a powerful Agent and a combat expert. On the other...he is still human and very killable.
Perhaps I should seek out the Observe and Terminate crew for assistance.

Update:
He stands at 6'2'', has matching brown eyes and hair, and a broad frame. He had a scar reaching from far above his hairline on the left down, across his entire face heading down to his right shoulders. Other facial markings include two claw marks above his left eye, and a Operator symbol carved into his left cheek.

So the Hunt Begins again.

Can I call it or what? Hello, Lone Hunter, or should I say, Bruce? Yes, yes, you're angry that we killed Allen. Yes, yes, come and get me if you can.

Spare me the threats and just show me what you can do, instead. If you can, you insipid grunt.

Cross country travel is never easy.

To anyone who is looking to run, note that and learn it well. Whether by train, plane, bus, or your own truck, hours on the road listening to Casey Kasem can grow very tiring. Whatever you do, don't do it by foot, unless you want to draw Him to you. It's your funeral if you do.
That said, even going at about 55 MPH, I've still caught sight of my former master about three times. I don't dare sleep in this vehicle out in the country. He won't be pleased that I've helped deprive him of his own personal local landowner.

I'm making good time, Clarice. I'll see you in a few days, if I make it.

Getting a set of wheels.

Two sessions of sitting in a cramped bus have shown me that this is not how I want to run, so I've gone and collected a car from one of Al(x)ne's garages. By the way, to whoever is running things in this state now, don't be too hard on the caretaker of said garage. In fact, you may want to have the bump on his head looked at.

I'm off to drop off Clyde's keepsakes to Clarice. It looks like I may meet Pete and Ron yet again as well.

Sory, but I couldn't come with you in the beginning, Pete. Too risky to have too many people traveling together. It's wise to keep numbers down to one or two.

The Redeeming Begins

Hello,

I'm not what to say, or what I can say. I know I have a lot to answer for and even more to own up to. It took Clyde's passing to make me see that.
Look, I make no excuse... No apology for the things I've done will ever be enough. So I won't ask for forgiveness. I won't even ask that you read this. I did what I thought I had to. I walked my path, and it led to the death of my friend.

Alas, Clyde. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Clarice. Please... I tried. I really did. Once I knew Clarice was going to The Ruins, I was feeding Clyde as much information as I could. Hell, if you want, you can find my spoon feeding in black text. I just...

I didn't seize the day and now my friend is dead.

I know Clarice posted about how I was forced to act the role of the sadistic villain and that I didn't really enjoy it. Well... It was a job to me. It was more that I just didn't care, really. I don't know if I do even now. Yes, I helped save Ron Foster from the clutches of my former master, and I avenged Clyde by helping slay Allen. I do love my wife, Lucy. Outside of that, I don't know what else still stirs in my heart. I've felt apathetic to the needs of many, in particular those opposing Him, for many years. Has that changed? Will it change? I don't know.
One person I know I won't come to care for is Allen "Al(x)ne" Smith. Good riddance.
That said, we've probably opened up a new can of worms: the oft spoke of Lone Hunter. Smith's personal assassin, and...brother. He will be seeking revenge for what we did to Allen. Allen gave him the password to The Land of Black Leaves, so I'm sure we can expect him to be the next to take over that blog. Don't worry, Pete, Slice and Core. It will be me he comes after first, so if I can get the better of him, we'll be fine. Just keep an eye out on my old blog.

Well, I guess I'll find out. I set out to search for Lucy now. I refused to have her tell me where she went, just in case I, too, was captured. I guess I will find out what I'm made through this new blog.

Eleven years. Back in 1999, when I was still a professor's assistant, I would never have guessed what a can of worms I was opening up by investigating Der Ritter. That professor even told me not to pursue it. In retrospect, I think he may have known something. Along the way, I intend to return to the museum where it all began to try to contact him when I can. I don't know what the lead will wield, but I guess anything is worth a shot where The Black King is concerned.

Disregard me and distrust me all you wish. I've more than earned it for what I've helped put young Mr. Foster through. Do I feel remorse? Well, I felt something when I looked into Ron's eyes when we extracted him. I don't know what it was, though. Look at me, a lifetime of memories and I'm more alien to human emotion than Pete. Speaking off...

Pete, listen. Your life before this... Only you remain of the life you once had. I literally can't post the details, but it involved The Black King, so you can probably make a pretty close guess as to what transpired.
Even if you ever do regain your memory, you have nothing left to go back to. The Black King pruned all connections you had created through social interaction long ago, and Clyde and I helped Him do it. That's how we know who you are.
Towards the end, your fight was a quest for revenge. Your hate made it easier to defeat you. Keep your head even if you do remember. The only thing you have left is to move forward and try to save Ron.

You true name is... is... Damn, I can't type it out. My lips are sealed concerning your real name as Clyde's were concerning Where The Lost Ones Go.

I still have the power to enter subdimensions set up by The Black King. The Ruins is the only location I know of for sure, though. I'd have to find another entryway after finding out where another one even is before I could enter. I do know others exist, though. 'He' told me that, himself, long ago, when He first inroduced me to The Ruins.

Clarice, I buried Clyde at the location I emailed to you. I also have a few keepsakes he wanted you to have. I intend to return them to you. Just email me the details of when and where you want them received.

I'll keep in touch. Ask any questions you want. I doubt I can be as insightful as Thage, Reach, or the like, but I have served Him for eleven years. Not the forty years Reach endured, but it's something.
